EMDR to Heal from the Past and Reclaim your Life
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy for women in Denver to heal from the past, regain emotional balance, and move forward with confidence.

Feel lighter, calmer, and more in control of your emotions.
It feels like no matter how much you try to move forward, parts of the past keep pulling you back. You tell yourself to let it go, but it lingers. The pit in your stomach at the possibility of conflict. The tightness in your chest before family gatherings or difficult conversations. The sudden wave of shame after speaking up for yourself.
You catch yourself picking fights or clinging to your partner, even as a voice in your head says, “Stop. Why am I doing this?” The fear of being left or rejected comes roaring up, and you hate how powerless it makes you feel.
You question whether you’re worthy of love, success, and sometimes even simple kindness. When you try to set a boundary or express a need, anxiety flares and you feel selfish or “too much.”
Underneath it all is a deep exhaustion from always feeling on edge. You crave peace, confidence, and connection, but instead, you find yourself replaying old moments, overanalyzing every interaction, and wondering why you can’t just feel okay.
Healing from past traumatic experiences is essential to be able to move forward and build confidence and trust in yourself. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy can help you work through stressful memories, reduce anxiety, and develop more positive beliefs about yourself.
How EMDR Supports Your Healing Journey:
Process Traumatic Experiences: EMDR helps you safely reprocess difficult memories without having to relive the trauma in detail. This reduces emotional distress and strengthens positive beliefs about yourself.
Moving Past Stuck Points in Therapy: If you’ve felt stuck in talk therapy, EMDR can help you address the experiences that keep you from making progress, allowing for deeper insight and more meaningful change.
Addressing Stressors and Past Trauma: Major stressors or past experiences can intensify anxiety, self-doubt, or relationship challenges. EMDR helps you process these underlying experiences so they no longer hold you back.
Integrating Healing into Your Life: By combining EMDR with ongoing therapy work, you can not only explore patterns and behaviors but also experience deeper, faster, and longer-lasting relief, building confidence, peace, and resilience.
“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

What You Can Expect in EMDR Therapy:
In EMDR therapy, we’ll start by building skills to manage stress and creating a supportive space for you. We’ll identify memories, thoughts, or experiences that are keeping you feelings stuck.
You can use EMDR alongside talk therapy, deepening the work we do together, or on its own if that’s what fits your needs. EMDR helps you process difficult experiences in a structured, controlled way, reducing emotional distress while strengthening positive beliefs about yourself. Because processing challenging material can sometimes feel overwhelming, integrating talk therapy can provide additional support and help you feel comfortable throughout your healing journey.
During During the reprocessing phase, we work with your brain’s natural healing ability to integrate challenging memories. You remain in control while your nervous system processes the past, helping you feel calmer, more resilient, and better able to handle life’s stressors.
Throughout therapy, we’ll tailor the process to your pace and comfort level. We may explore thoughts, feelings, and patterns in talk therapy, use EMDR to reprocess underlying experiences, or combine both approaches. The goal is to help you feel lighter, regain emotional balance, and move forward with confidence.
I typically recommend 80-minute sessions once we enter the reprocessing phase, giving us enough time to fully process memories and allow for emotional integration. Weekly sessions are ideal at the start, helping to maintain momentum, strengthen our therapeutic relationship, and work toward your healing goals.
